Welcome Students and Parents!
I am Leann L'Esperance, and I will be teaching 6th grade Research this year. I am a graduate of Black Hills State University, located in Spearfish, South Dakota. I hold a B.S. Degree in both Biology and Environmental Physical Science. Before I began my teaching career, I worked as a Research Associate in biorefinery technology, specializing in conversion of waste biomass into petrochemicals.
It is a pleasure to get to teach students the fundamentals of science and engineering. I love science, exploration, and problem solving, and it is my goal get students excited about research! In 6th grade, I will focus on laying the foundations of the Scientific Method and the Engineering Design Process. In addition, students will learn how to design an experiment, collect and analyze data, draw conclusions, write a scientific research paper, make a poster presentation, and tackle the grand engineering challenge of providing access to clean water. I hope to make research a fun and exciting class that meets the standards and expectations, while preparing students for a successful career at the STEM Academy and beyond!
If there is anything I can do to help make this a successful school year, please contact me via phone or email. I am always available to help my students and parents.
Kind Regards,
Leann L'Esperance
